I brushed Cora while she grazed. The sun was hot but we were chill.

Lacey the chicken has scratched out a nice dirt bath in a corner of Donatello's paddock.
I haven't spent any time with Cora since last Thursday, but she was wonderful today. I was grooming her in the round pen and almost finished when I stopped and walked away to talk to one of the doctors. Cora followed me across the pen and nudged my elbow, and after I kept talking to the doc she flopped down and rolled. We think she might have wanted me to start over. I did. :)

I was able to feed everyone this morning and do some light clean-up around the barn before it started raining. I hung out in a stall but gave up after about an hour and came home.
Cora seemed put out with me.
I've been re-reading Kinship with All Life - great book, highly recommended. One of its tenets is that you must always bring your best to your relationships with your fellow beings. I try, but in the back of my head I keep hearing the lyric from Twisted Sister's "We're Not Gonna Take It" that goes, "...if that's your best, your best won't dooo." Sigh. Gotta work on my self-esteem, I guess.

Cora and her new paddock-mate Scudbuster seem to be getting along - they were hangin' companionably in the shade a good while this morning.
