field notes, vii-i-xii

Our mid-afternoon walk started nice, cool under the cover of some lingering thunderclouds that had earlier threatened but then fallen apart. As they burned off and the sun got in the air became a steamy sauna. We were lucky to make it home alive, I tell ya, it was all like stinging flies and vicious animals that wanted to eat us everywhere and we were dripping with sweat and terror but we put our heads down and our hearts into it man and crossed our threshold with yet another new tale of victory to tell ha ha.
