never would have suspected but I heard an odd chirrup
and looked up to see a roadrunner clambering through the branches nearby

The ranch owner's horse Boomer was grazing in the front yard
when I pulled in this morning.
After a lovely ride in the round pen
Cora and I hung out under the big oak tree in Reno and Jazz's paddock;
I saw the roadrunner in the field behind us only after she alerted to it.
The titmouse didn't hold still very long.
We found a very old memorial sign behind the oak tree.
Good boy, Joe.

devil's claw: this plant rocks
(this is not the plant used as an anti-inflammatory
but it's cool in its own ways)

Rain on Lughnasadh is both a blessing and a good omen.
We're thankful for the little drops on our faces and for the rainbow.
(My notes show the last real rain we had was on May 5,
along with a few drops on June 27.)
