Wikipedia says the top plant, prairie tea (croton monanthogynus),
"prefers full sun, dry conditions, and poor soil," (check!) and that
the seeds feed sparrows, doves, wild turkeys and cowbirds, among others.
The butterfly is a checkered skipper, which are tiny and cool.
