lately Cora seems reluctant to go back to her paddock when it's time for me to go
makes me wish we had our own place

Cora is wary of thick brush but sometimes she finds a fringe of grass too tempting to ignore. She has also figured out that the latch on this gate doesn't always catch so she can let herself out.

Cora got a hoof trim on this chilly morning. She behaved pretty well - made it through three feet before she walked away. (We did finish - she just needed a little break.)

happy valentine's day 2019
I don't know what kind of flower this is but I'm eager to find out - Cora LOVES munching on the ground-lying leaves of the plants from which this blossom has suddenly sprung.

I was out early to cover the morning feeding shift and then hung out with Cora for half an hour.
We had a light freeze - the paddock gates and other metal surfaces had a coat of ice but none of the troughs were frozen. (The agarita blossoms from a couple days ago seemed unfazed; they're tough.)

a hanging out day
this was one of only three or four open agarita blossoms I saw today - the year's first, with many more on the way - and just like that, it's spring! (barring a stray late frost)
