wake up, little penny!
We were trying to wake up Penny a little by playing a recording of Pan for her. :)

farewell, old friend
Sweet old Fergus has passed away. This is the last photo I took of him, just a couple days before he left us. He had a good, good heart. We will miss him.

a bit early
The whole city shut down last Friday because of an ice storm, but the weekend has been spectacular - 70 degrees today. (Looks like this is an anemone, an early spring flower - Feb-Apr. First of the flock - woot!)

juniperus ashei
This is one of the most common trees in central Texas, known in these parts as "mountain cedar," but it's not in the cedar family, and there aren't any mountains around here.
Yup.
kinglet, mockingbird and warbler
Got the Swivi hood. It's well made and very helpful with the 200/f4 on the K-01. Sharp lens - a little PF and CA (it's pre-SMC); LR defringing helps. (I should post a picture of the rig - it's downright comical.)

passerines
A long, steady stream of these birds flew over our heads for a good half hour this evening. I think they're red-winged blackbirds but I'm not certain. There must have been hundreds of thousands of them.
