Walking Odin last night, the chatty little kid down the street said, "Is that ANOTHER dog?" I told him yes, and that he belonged to my daughter. The kid started petting him, and Odin promptly slurped his face.
"What kind of dog is he?" the kid asked.
"He's a coonhound," I said.
"A toonhound?"
"Uh...yes," I said, "A toonhound."

There's a vacant lot down the street from us, on our way to the park. It's big enough for a couple houses, maybe more. It's a pleasant shortcut - there's always something new and different growing there. Right now it's full of coreopsis.
In other news, I'm suffering from a nasty rhinovirus, and, oh, we learned today that the agency I work for may be absorbed into a much larger agency at the end of the summer. Bleh. Thought I'd make it to retirement, but I'm still about 4-1/2 years short. Anyone in Colorado hiring?

finn again
I am most impressed with this young fellow. He stayed with us overnight and through the day today, and he got his wellness check and a couple vaccines this morning. He's been a champ throughout, calm and dignified. He might make a great therapy dog. He's on his way to live with Sarah tonight. He handled the toons well, but I think he might be happier not having to watch out for them all the time.

finn!
Sarah adopted this handsome two-year-old pomerian/papillon today. He's calm and quiet, but that might be because he's overwhelmed. Pan seems to like him. Ondine's a little jealous. Odin's curious. Fergus has no idea.

colorado bend state park
Our 28th anniversary adventure. We hiked part of the Spicewood Springs trail in the morning and the Gorman Falls trail in the afternoon. One trail on a cool weekday morning with one dog would have been fine; two trails on a hot spring Saturday with both dogs was tough.
